Shree Tama Khani Primary school, Nagre gagarche VDC 4, Kavre district – Opened 13th April 2007
Shree Tama Khani Primary school was the second school to be built by the charity here in the UK. Built within a mile of Rajabas where the hospital now stands and the boyhood home of DCWC in Nepal chairman Akka Lama. These days we can drive to Tama Khani but this school was built before the road was finished and so this was a very long day to get to the village. We didn’t arrive till 5 o’clock in the evening in twilight. The drive was around 5 hours and the walk another 5 hours. When the group arrived at the village they were almost ready for bed.
But that wasn’t an option as there were 100 children eagerly anticipating a school opening and clothes and stationary distribution. The event went on long into the evening. Phil Hanson had donated most of the finance for the school. He had been out to Kalika Malika the year before and wanted to do something himself. The event was also filmed in HD by Jason Graham. The first of several trips Jason went out to Nepal to film for us. The next morning the group was off at dawn heading to Kodhari and a trip to Tibet.
Thanks to all who made this possible. As always Akka Lama for everything and Guna Lama the engineer and logistics man. the group who came – Phil Hanson, Colin Rodgers, Jayne Brown and Jason Graham who filmed the school opening. And a very special thanks to Phil Hanson for providing a lot of the finance to make this happen.
